Kaitlin and William’s Wedding at Blue Sky Auberge

The day was a reflection of pure elegance and intentional design. The lush surroundings paired seamlessly with the refined details of the decor, bringing to life a vibrant maximalist aesthetic that felt both natural and luxurious. Guests were immersed in the serene mountain air, as the ceremony unfolded with breathtaking views and heartfelt moments.

“I didn't try on a single wedding dress, I found Angela Kim online and we immediately clicked.  I told her I wanted a dress that would work in either Paris of Westworld, and that was completely modular so that I could wear it again later.  She came up with a skirt, Corset, overskirt, and choker combo that I could not have been happier with.  She really understood the vision!  The overskirt was rather wide so I walked myself down the aisle.  I loved the look of runway aisle seating but was not sure how it would work, functionally.  We decided to take the risk, and I am so glad we did! Multiple guests told us that not only were they able to see the procession more clearly, but being able to face the other guests gave the ceremony a feeling intimacy and community, as if they were all in it together.  I loved being able to see everyone's faces so clearly as I made my way to Will.”

The Design:
When World Experiences Perfectly Collide

The element I was most excited about were the bridesmaids and flower girl dresses.  I found the designer on Tik Tok, she lives in Pocatello, Idaho but attended fashion school in Paris.  She says she makes work about “Mountains, Mormons, and Cowboys” and her work is all informed by traditional American Folk culture and craftsmanship.  There aren’t many fabric stores in her area, so she’s become adept at hand dyeing fabrics and constructing clothing with leftover fabrics from items she thrifts.  I loved the craftsmanship and sustainable aspect of her designs.  She included personalized elements in all of the dresses, like actual sheet music for my maid of honor, who is a professional harpist.
— Bride, Kaitlin

Kaitlin and Will presented the most colorful life experiences with me when learning their story and design aesthetic. Kaitlin initially imagined a very Ralph Lauren meets Utah mountains vibe, but after hearing more about Kaitlin’s years spent in Hong Kong, Will proposing in Italy on a family trip to Sorrento, their love for mixed patterns/media and love for music and the arts…

I knew I had to design something much more “maximalist” for them.

I took what they shared and pushed outside the design box and created a far more creative aesthetic for K+W. I am so grateful for their trust throughout the design and planning process! It really allowed us to create a truly remarkable and memorable wedding!

The Italian-inspired chandeliers, the giant paper flowers brought in from a Chinese artist, a William Morris Art Nouveau print for the paper details and dance floor wrap mixed in with rustic Park City details all blended together for a wedding that “was so Kaitlin and Will!”

I would like to say our giant paper flowers and the William Morris pattern were picked BEFORE it started to become popular in home design and event design! It is so hard when we build a concept and keep it secret for 12+ months while we see trends start to pop up! But, we LOVE that reveal moment and the reaction! So, the hush hush was worth it! But, Kaitlin and I will stand tall saying “we thought of it first!” LOL

Getting Ready

Let’s talk glam squad.

Don’t underestimate the value of experienced, quality beauty artists. It absolutely makes a difference! How your hair holds for 10+ hours, does your foundation crease or get cakey… how are those lashes holding up? Take your time finding the best artist for your unique style, hair, skin and bridal party beauty needs.

Consider your hair coloring, extensions welllll BEFORE your wedding month! Kaitlin met many months before with @beautiful.reaction to nail down extensions and getting the blond just right. I also recommend all my clients start a facial routine at least 6 months out. It’s worth it! Kaitlin’s beauty team @acieartistry and @annasullivanhair did a beautiful job throughout the wedding weekend events attending to Kaitlin’s different looks. 💕

The Ceremony & Cocktail Hour, pivot!

“Will walked down the aisle to a bluegrass cover of the Danger zone (the same song he entered with when he participated in a reality dating show called "Take Me Out").  I walked down the aisle to Lana Del Rey's "Say yes to Heaven", and we exited the ceremony to Eddie Money's "Two Tickets to Paradise" (another reference to the dating show, we thought of this as a fun full circle moment).”

Welcome to weddings in the mountains! Weather can change FAST! As the ceremony start time was approaching we started having wind guests over 40MPH! Our cocktail linens were flying into the sky! The chuppah was shaking, the acrylic chairs were blowing over, the reserved seat signs were flying into the trees… We pulled the linens and dressed tables inside the barn space just in case we had to have the cocktail inside. We started to make the call on moving the chuppah, but our Groom was steadfast and held firm on an outdoor ceremony! Artisan Bloom’s team worked hard to secure the chuppah and all the vendors scrambled to make everything as “wind proof” as possible - sometimes a couple large rocks make their way to holding up a bar menu :)

The large paper flowers were originally intended to dress the pathway leading to the ceremony, but there was no way they would hold up in that high of winds… so, we dressed the inside space with them and it ended up being quite epic!

Let’s Turn It Up! Neon Cowboy!

“After our first dance, to Marcus King's "Wildflowers and Wine", we snuck off to change into our neon cowboy looks and surprised our guests by going for Westworld to Will's World! The lights turned pink and we brought out hats from the brand Neon Cowboys, along with Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches and Mochi Donuts, of course! Blue Sky did an amazing job on the food and it's safe to say that no one went hungry that night.”

Kaitlin and William’s Welcome Party at The Spur, Park City

Welcome Party Vibes at The Spur on Main Street, Park City

At Ira and Lucy, we believe the wedding experience begins long before the big day itself. Recently, we had the pleasure of designing an unforgettable welcome party at The Spur Bar & Grill on Main Street, Park City, where rustic mountain charm meets modern elegance. This event set the perfect tone for an entire weekend of celebration!

With the stunning mountain backdrop, cozy ambience, and a lively vibe, we created an intimate yet energetic gathering for the couple’s family and friends. Guests enjoyed musicians playing live on the patio, with the warm glow of string lights overhead, while the bar featured custom cocktails crafted especially for the event. The atmosphere was all about blending fun and sophistication.

We transformed The Spur’s outdoor terrace into a welcoming space with fine linen, artisanal floral arrangements, and fabulous heavy apps. The beautiful mix of autumn colors in the floral centerpieces—rich burgundy, burnt orange, and soft blush tones—created a warm, inviting setting that complemented the natural beauty of Park City.

From the carefully curated décor to the lively entertainment, this welcome party was the perfect start to a memorable wedding weekend. Whether you’re planning an intimate gathering or a grand celebration, Ira and Lucy is here to make every moment shine.

“With the help of wedding planner, Ira & Lucy, Kaitlin and Will planned a wedding weekend that was a stunning fusion of elegance and rustic charm, perfectly themed “Cowboy Couture.” The festivities began with a vibrant welcome party at The Spur, where the couple embraced a full 70s vibe. Will sported a buckskin fringe jacket, Wrangler jeans and Tecovas boots, while Kaitlin wowed in a brown and cream Alemais skirt set inspired by cowboy boots, complete with a Stars and Stripes bag by paco Rabanne, big hair and striking blue eyeshadow.” - Rocky Mountain Bride editorial feature

A Dream Team Experience:
Collaborating with Katherine and Kellie

The space itself offers so much that it doesn’t require a lot of design, We brought in some fine linens to dress up the venue’s tables, created custom signage, cocktail napkins and frosted cups from Katherine Jezek Design and local floral designer, Artisan Bloom nailed the foraged modern floral elements I envisioned. The texture in the florals were stunning and so fitting!

Kaitlin envisioned a Ralph Lauren/Utah Mountain’s vibe. She ALSO is all about color and maximalism. We saved the maximalism for the wedding wow-factors (stay tuned for part 2), and built up the luxury with each event. We had a firm budget to work with for the Welcome Party, which is why The Spur was such a fabulous pick! We had a perfect foundation with The Spur’s existing furniture and decor.

I just have to share how incredible it was to work with this design team! The collaboration with Katherine and Kellie truly stood out as the highlight of the wedding design process. It was a joy from start to finish—always fun and full of creativity!

There was never a moment of stress or frustration; it genuinely felt like a partnership. I knew I had a team beside me, equally dedicated to pushing creative boundaries and striving for excellence. I can’t recommend Katherine and Kellie enough to our clients! They are, without a doubt, the best paper and floral vendors I’ve had the pleasure of working with in over a decade!

Tim and Taylor Gore, a captivating country music duo, meld traditional charm with authenticity. Tim, originating from Corbin, Kentucky, and Taylor, from Grants Pass, Oregon, craft songs that reflect their life experiences. Their journey began in 2014, and in 2021, they became life partners as well as musical partners.

They’ve collaborated with Grammy-winning producers and top songwriters, ensuring a high-quality sound. Their live shows are lively, upbeat, and unforgettable.

I stumbled upon Tim and Taylor on Instagram one late evening while on the hunt for entertainment for Kaitlin and Will and immediately fell in love with their sound! I knew they were the perfect fit for our acoustic country vibe and was so impressed! I can’t wait to work with them again!

Working with The Spur Bar & Grill

The logistics of our Plan A for the Welcome Party just weren’t panning out… So, it was time to PIVOT! Working with Brie, our main POC for The Spur, we worked through securing the top floor of the space, creating an approachable laid back menu with some signature drinks and they were super accommodating with my design details, timeline and entertainment needs. It was a phenomenal experience AND perfect way to kick off the wedding weekend.

Planner Insight! Perks of The Spur:

  • Location

    • The Spur’s top bar patio boasts the best view of Main Street and the mountains that Park City has to offer.

    • Book this space in the summer and fall to feel the crisp mountain air and watch the leaves change on the mountain. Book this space in the winter to see the true beauty of our city. With heating units and a heated floor you can be sure you’ll never slip or shiver. Enjoy your own private bar and view like no other.

    • For larger events, reserve the Top Bar, Original Back Bar and the Corral VIP space. It’s a very versatile space with reasonable buyout rates, great staff that truly engages with your guests in creating a professional, but fun environment.

    • note that the space is only available for a full buyout event. We can help you with all the details!

  • Parking

    • Parking can be quite tricky around Main Street, however The Spur is situated directly across the street from a parking garage that is easy for guests to navigate. It also made load in and out for our floral and design teams to access.

  • Quality Food & Beverage

    • It can be challenging narrowing down options for hosting your event in Park City - the food and beverage scene is UNREAL here! The couple had a set budget and focused on some guest-friendly selections. On our off time, I personally loved the Roasted Beet Salad with an Old Fashioned. Jonnathan was all about the wings. We had guests spanning the globe, from the Hamptons to Europe, and were confident in the Spur’s offerings and they did not disappoint. The cocktails and beer on tap were fantastic and the bar hustled to keep drinks flowing and lines minimal, Happy Guests = Happy Clients = Happy Planner :)

Charity & William

Boise based wedding planner and designer, Ira and Lucy transformed the couple's private estate into an incredible multi-tented wedding reception taking the guests from an elegant ceremony into a night club vibe reception.

Private Estate Wedding
Spring 2024

Your eyes give life a new meaning
It's like I found the north light
I never knew what I needed
Until I felt your hand holding mine, yeah

You say I'm your hero
But you are the one that saved me
If I ever lost you
I'd fall to my knees

I can't imagine my life without you
I can't imagine one night without you
If something happened, don't know what I'd do
I can't imagine
I can't imagine my life without you

Imagine, Ben Platt

Each Wedding Should Be Unique to the Client

We had the privilege of orchestrating a truly unforgettable celebration for Charity and William. Their love story, marked by profound moments, was the centerpiece of a meticulously planned and designed wedding that resonated deeply with their emotional journey.

Guests were first welcomed to a sophisticated pre-ceremony cocktail hour, where Charity made a striking impression in a black satin gown, perfectly setting the stage for an elegant black-tie event. As the ceremony began, attendees were led into a beautifully decorated tent where live musicians performed, and a touching documentary film was shown. This film narrated William’s life-changing near-death experience and his and Charity’s hospital room marriage, offering guests a heartfelt glimpse into their extraordinary love story.

In a heartwarming twist, while guests watched the film, we swiftly changed Charity into her stunning wedding gown—a delightful surprise for William! She then walked down the aisle with her eldest son to Ben Platt’s “Imagine,” under a canopy of stars projected onto the tent’s ceiling. It was an emotional and memorable experience for everyone involved, reflecting the deep connection between the couple and their journey together.

Night Club Reception

The couple and their family are BIG game fans! So, it was only fitting to create a club vibe with an array of casino games where guests could cash in their chips for some mega prizes at the end of the party!

Food and Beverage

We crafted a unique and engaging dining experience that complemented their vibrant celebration. Embracing their preference for a more relaxed and interactive atmosphere, we designed a variety of informal food grazing stations. This approach allowed guests to enjoy a diverse array of culinary delights at their leisure, perfectly aligning with the evening's dynamic and festive vibe.

As guests mingled, danced, and celebrated, they could visit the grazing stations at their own pace, sampling a range of delectable offerings. From artisanal cheeses and charcuterie to shrimp cocktails, gourmet sliders, and more, each station was thoughtfully curated to provide a mix of flavors and textures. Interactive elements and customizable dishes, added an extra layer of excitement and engagement.

The food stations were strategically placed to encourage guests to move about and interact, enhancing the overall lively atmosphere of the event. This dining format not only catered to varying appetites but also contributed to the evening’s casual, enjoyable feel, allowing everyone to savor the celebration in a relaxed and memorable way.

Laura reached out to me looking for a planner to help plan a wedding ceremony at her parents home in Blackhawk on the River with a reception at Shore Lodge in McCall, Idaho. Laura and Logan hoped for a sophisticated, elegant and authentic McCall experience that wasn’t overly stuffy, but reflected their love for the outdoors, the natural landscape and the joy that their family shared for the memories made in their McCall home. Most of the guests would be flying in from out of state, so guest management was an important planning detail for ensuring out of state guests felt ease getting to the mountains for an incredible destination wedding weekend celebration!

“5/5 Stars, highly recommend! Now to explain why. Ira and Lucy were hired for both my daughters wedding, one in 2017 and in 2024. My daughters are very different and had very different visions for their respective weddings. They chose different venues and Heidi made both their weddings beautiful and unique to them. She does not do a one size fits all, she listens and caters to what the bride wants. Her attention to detail is phenomenal. Her recommendations for vendors were perfect.

Of course she makes it clear you can use any vendor you want, but I found her recommendations to be perfect. Day of the wedding she makes sure everything runs smoothly with no awkward lulls. Heidi and her husband Jonnathan are professional and an overall delight to work with.

Working with them made the process seamless and actually relaxing so this mother of the bride could sit back and enjoy the day. Ira and Lucy is worth every penny to make wedding dreams a reality, not to infer it was costly, it was very reasonable. I almost wish I had more weddings to plan with her!” - MOB, Nancy

Heidi, Jonathan and their sweet family are amazing! Heidi is an incredibly talented designer who made our wedding weekend vision a reality. She was with us every step of the planning process but proved invaluable the week of the wedding, seamlessly adjusting plans to accommodate weather, handling relatives and creating a fun and relaxing environment that allowed us to soak in every moment of our wedding. We love Heidi, having her on our team was the best decision we made!
— Bride, Lexi

welcome party

Guests were shuttled from the mountain down to the lake and then transported across the lake by Pontoon. Jimmy and Lexi and their beloved fur baby, Sunny, greeted guests dockside. Guests enjoyed a spread created by The Drift catering in a vintage canoe, a beer truck, corn hole and an interactive guest gifting station at our “general store”.

We never miss an opportunity for some mixed seating options and soft seating lounges are ALWAYS a guest favorite. Umbrellas could be moved around as the sun shifted.

I wanted to thank you and your team for your professional, poised and gracious presence during Lexi and Jimmy’s wedding. Every parent wants their child’s wedding day to be perfect and your expertise throughout the planning process was invaluable. Your calm approach to everything helped keep me calm and ever present to enjoy every single second of the day. I am especially thankful for your ability to react quickly to an unexpected weather event, and turn it into an extremely special experience. Your team is amazing and I am incredibly grateful for all of you!
— Bride's Mother, Danika

I will never forget finding this gown for Lexi and immediately sending her photos and lining up the dress with A and Be Bridal boutique for one of her Seattle visits. This dress was made for Lexi! Paired with a cathedral length veil…., perfection!

Sometimes the unexpected happens! We woke up to smoke from wild fires and some questionable weather. Our teams kept a very close eye as we moved through the production timeline. On schedule we had our bridal party, immediate family and Priest on the top of the mountain for photos and sound check when a mandatory mountain evacuation was called in as a thunderstorm was rolling in VERY quickly!

As the general public was moved down the chair lift - we had to make a call AND FAST! I spoke with the Schweitzer team (LOVE working with them) and the couple and we opted to quickly run the ceremony with the bridal party and parents with the Priest without guests. Guests were escorted to an indoor ceremony set up while we quickly held the intimate ceremony as the wind picked up! It was truly INCREDIBLE! We all agreed that it actually was even more special than our original plan A. We then got the bridal party on the lift and down the mountain and inside JUST as it started to downpour! We repeated the ceremony for their guests who all went along with the adjusted plans and STILL it was such a remarkable experience. As the second ceremony happened we scrambled to move all the cocktail hour furniture from the outside deck to inside to modify our plans for indoor while the rain dumped on us!

Lexi had her heart set on this moment! We had to make sure we could do all we could to get her “Just Married” chair lift moment - and I am so so happy we could make it happen!

My fiancé and I have been working with Heidi for a bit over a year now, the typically millennial year and a half engagement! We are getting married this summer, but I found it worth the time to comment on the process we have gone through and our experience so far:

Although there are many great things I could say about Heidi, what I found more important to me is that she is super confident and takes the stress out of everything. As most could probably expect, planning a wedding is one of the most stressful times of your life, and Heidi has truly made this process seamless. Her ability to integrate technology into the process is also great because it creates accountability for all involved (mothers, fathers, bridal party, etc.), encourages collaboration, and helps keep everything organized. Her connections with vendors and ability to negotiate pricing and get contracts agreed to on time and under budget are skills that I don’t think most wedding planners truly have. I don’t even want to think about where we’d be in this process without her!
— Groom, Jimmy

This was one of my most favorite weddings in 12 years. Jimmy and Lexi…. I love you guys so much and will forever cherish the time we shared planning your wedding celebration. You are more than “clients” - you are great friends now! Your family and friends welcomed us into your circle and we felt so loved and appreciated. Our vendor team was INCREDIBLE! Everyone worked so seamlessly together. The communication and joy we shared working together was irreplaceable. I could work with this team over and over again!

“From start to finish, this nouveau lodge in Utah’s Wasatch Mountain Range is one long love letter to the great outdoors.” - Conde Nast Magazine

When the Bride reached out to me from the Bay Area, she expressed some specific hopes for their wedding. An adventurous couple that enjoys getting off the beaten path, are BIG foodies, a McGee and Co design vibe and a truly unique mountain experience for their multicultural family and guests ALL flying in for the wedding. I researched over 20 venues across the United States and we landed on the beautiful Lodge at Blue Sky just outside Park City, Utah. Park City, Utah is one of our top choices for mountain weddings. The international airport is a quick 20-30 minute drive on a major highway and a resort town that boasts incredible food scene, outdoor activities and fabulous shopping and a huge variety of accommodation options. Additionally, it’s not so remote that it makes the logistics of planning a destination wedding much more feasible. I LOVE that our team had access to Home Depot, Home Goods, grocery stores, and more for any quick needs! This plays big for a Planner!
