IRA + LUCY COORDINATION, DESIGN + RENTALS
Yesterday we needed to focus on some much needed family time, so I avoided the computer and instead baked up a storm, gained 15 pounds, played Star Wars video game with the hubs, played Transformers on the floor with Jagger and then had friends over for a fun evening. Like many of you I have a hard time resisting the urge to hop on Instagram and indulge in some visual eye candy and to my surprise saw Two Bird Studio announced the debut of one of our couples, Whitney and Tim's, Tamarack Mountain Wedding. Merry Christmas! I'm so excited to share with you! Stay tuned for the images coming soon! I can't wait for you to see more of the details.

The Barn at Mader Farm, Genesse Idaho
I will admit that I was that girl, the one who started planning her wedding when she was six years old. I dreamt of the man I would marry; what he would look like, his voice, and the things he would say to me standing up in front of our friends and family. What I didn’t realize at six years old, is that love surprises us when we least expect it and there’s actually no way to dream up or prepare for just how amazing it is going to be someday. I realized early on in my planning that what I was drawn to most were the little things, which is why I hired a designer. I wanted someone who understood the importance of every little detail and who would make all the little elements come together into a complimentary big picture. For the nonbelievers out there, I promise you actually can make a boho-chic, rustic, country barn wedding work! It just takes one amazing designer! - Bride, Brie
GETTING READY
THE FIRST LOOK
The smoke from nearby wildfires threw our plans for a loop! Bride, Brie had planned for a surprise grand exit at the end of the night for Kasey with a helicopter flight leaving their reception, but with the smoke as bad as it was, early in the afternoon we received a call that it was a no go.... Here is one reason we love Brie so much, this bride was bummed, but determined and was willing to go with the flow and adjust plans as needed. Instead, we bumped up the schedule for photos and decor and had the helicopter come for the "First Look". The pilot was ok with that option since it would be lighter during the day hours and not be a safety issue. Welcome to make'n it work! Brie was whisked away to a hidden location as the helicopter landed on site at the venue and boy was Kasey surprised! The pilot then flew Kasey around to find his bride. Brie, walked up the rolling Palouse hills to greet Kasey. It was incredibly awesome! Thank you Kiwi Helicopters for making it happen!
Brie sent me pics of the guys attire less than two weeks before the wedding and I encourage her a big NO on black ties and sent her ideas for bow ties for the gents! They rocked those bow ties! There was just no black in anything else in the design elements. In a rush, since we were on crunch time I sent Brie some options and together we figured it out and ordered them in time for the wedding! I say, they look might dapper! P.S. The Tie Bar has a ton of options and not bad prices! The Groomsmen wore "Opulent" style in champagne. Kasey wore the Sand Wash Solid in Brown.
CEREMONY
Brie envisioned draping on the the tree and really wanted white, but it just wasn't feasible. As I shopped around for draping with the little amount of time we had, I landed on this gorgeous lavender and taupe/gray subtle floral print and it was EXACTLY what I wanted! It pulled in the bridesmaid dresses, the purples in the groomsmen shirts and the floral details and helped blend the gray and taupe details throughout the wedding design. AND it was in the clearance section and made getting the whole bolt of fabric feasible with the budget! SCORE! This is a snippet of the design board we presented to Brie and Kasey to help them envision the design elements. We focus on tangible, accessible items that will be part of their wedding decor.
CUSTOM DESIGN BOARD
RECEPTION
The Barn at Mader Farm, is an incredible venue. The historic barn is a dream to design with! We used lighter linen to brighten the space up and featured greenery chandeliers. Beautiful sheer drapes billowed down the sides of the entrance and were sashed with silk ribbon and greenery. Kara, with Just So. Event Floral worked some serious magic on the centerpieces, featuring artichokes, dahlias roses and greenery - some of the bride's favorite flowers.
Brie and Kasey own a Coffee business and we had to incorporate this personal element into their wedding. We featured this rustic old industrial cart (available in our rental items), added some greenery and Brie made these darling coffee bean to-go bags for their gift favors. Brie's bridesmaid did the water color lettering.

Still Water Hollow Raves About Ira + Lucy Wedding Planner
"As the owner of a local Idaho event venue, Still Water Hollow, I have had the privilege of working closely with Heidi Wight and the Ira & Lucy team. It began with Heidi and myself putting on events together to help inspire Bride's and bless the couples who were preparing for their wedding day. I saw she had a creative and gifted mind in the area of decor and quickly noticed she could make a dramatic impact without a lot of fuss. I also saw her attention to detail and her deep care for her clients. I felt confident in referring Ira & Lucy, knowing our clients would be taken care of and would be very happy with their rentals and decor.
Recently, I have gotten to see first hand what an impressive job the entire Ira & Lucy team does when taking on event design, decor, vintage rentals, and coordination as a whole. I am convinced that this is the solution to pulling off a wedding or special event with little to no stress.
On the design and decor front, Heidi has the ability to see the big picture and help those planning an event understand what will give them the most dramatic impact. Rather than spending a little money here and there on things that will most likely go unnoticed, but will add up quickly, Heidi has knowledge of where to save and where to really invest. The events Heidi has decorated always look stunning, but each one has a style that showcases the Bride and Grooms individual personalities or the theme that the company is hoping to convey. There is always an elegant flair whether it is a rustic country wedding or a black tie affair. Creating an atmosphere worthy of celebrating and making lifelong memories.
The Coordination part of this is so important. Please do not underestimate the value of hiring a coordinator. On a personal level, I chose not to hire a coordinator at my wedding and both my mom and I would like a do-ver on that decision. My mom and I are very close and I would have loved to have her by my side as I got ready and during the prayer before I walked down the aisle, but she was out making sure vendors were setup and tying up loose ends. She had to change her dress quickly as guests were getting settled into their seats. Leaving us with little memories of being together on that day.
As a venue, we unfortuantely see many events become stressful and overwhelming to those planning. In the case of weddings, we have seen mothers who don't get to spend time with their daughters. We have seen Bride's who have had to focus attention on decor rather than on the deep and meaningful commitment they are about to enter into with the love of their life. We have seen company employees who have had little experience planning large events feel overwhelmed and unsure how to handle difficult situations. On the contrary, with the Ira & Lucy team coordinating a recent event, we were aware of many things going awry behind the scenes, but not one family member, the parents of the Bride and Groom, or the couple had any idea what was taking place. Heidi took care of everything professionally and quickly to ensure the couple and the family had a wonderful evening and left with only sacred moments that will be shared around the dinner table for years to come.
I trust Ira & Lucy with any event I plan in the future and I highly recommend that couples invest in a decor team and coordinator who will ensure their day goes off without a hitch. Many couples spend $2,000-$3,000 on a tent to protect their event from being rained on, but few think of the protection they can gain from someone there making sure you spend the day surrounded by your family and focused on the real meaning of your wedding celebration. That is priceless!"

Winter Wedding Sneak Peek!
Alysse and Kris married early December at the beautiful Still Water Hollow with the first snow fall of the season! Alysse's mother did an incredible job decorating the reception. It was such a joy to add the final touches with the bride & groom special seating, the wine barrel cake table, old skates, skis and sled and a few other special details here and there. Seeing Alysse's face light up with more joy than words could ever express was so special! Her Mom rented our vintage fur capelet as a surprise for Alysse. During her bridal portraits we had her close her eyes and her mom gave her the capelet. Everyone was teary eyed and so happy! Chelsea and bridesmaids braved the cold and took these adorable pics with our "Cora" vintage blue settee. Thank you Chelsea Risko Photography for sharing these sneak peeks with us! Gorgeous Bridal Bouquet by Flowers At Will. [pullquote width=250 float=left]Time for wedding thank yous! Heidi Wight, thank you so much for all your help styling our wedding. Ayesha & Jaseem's Wedding
I'm really excited to share Ayesha and Jaseem's wedding with you! Ayesha contacted me on the hunt for the perfect furniture to fit their 4-day wedding celebration located at the Grove Hotel, downtown Boise. Tana Photography did a fabulous job capturing the memorable occasion! Ayesha's stunning makeup was perfected by Gabrielle Marcantonio and Bliss Events managed all the decor! Our "Madeline" Collection Gold Upholstered chairs were absolutely perfect for this occasion! They are a popular choice for special seating, so much so, we are on the hunt for like chairs to grow the collection! Our "Ingrid" Settee was accented with gold and purple pillows and created the perfect seating for the Bride & Groom.
Thank you Ayesha for inviting us to be part of your and Jaseem's Wedding. You were truly a stunning bride! A BIG thank you to Tana for sharing your talent with us! You captured everything so beautifully!

Event Design...explaining the Idea Board
Event Design is all about creating an atmosphere, an environment that tells your unique love story. When you view swoon-worthy weddings on Pinterest or on your favorite blogs and magazines, often a designer was involved! It’s about pulling the entire look of your wedding or special event from the invites to your after party all together for a seamless and one-of-a-kind event.
You'll notice on our Services Page that we offer Event Design Packages! Part of the process includes a custom designed Idea/Concept Board created just for you by Heidi, Lead Designer and Owner of Ira & Lucy. A Concept Board includes color palette, hand selected typography styles, images of inspiration, select items from our inventory and a break down of the different styled stations for your wedding. Instead of being completely overwhelmed with all the eye candy from Pinterest, we narrow down your entire design, creating cohesion with a distinct and personal style of its own that perfectly represents your love story! After your initial consultation and booking our Event Design Services we then create this custom board for you! It becomes the blueprint for your event!
To give you a feel for what our Idea/Concept Boards are like, here is a custom board we designed for one of our October couple's, Abby and Dylan.
You can read more about our Event Design Services, along with information about rentals and styling on our services page! Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions. We look forward to chatting with you and are excited to hear about your unique love story!
If you're confused and wondering what the difference is between an Event Designer and a Wedding Planner please read this fabulous article on the difference and the value in each role. We have some fabulous planners we would be more than happy to connect you with to help with that part of the puzzle! We really love working side by side with planners!
P.S. Abby and Dylan, we are so excited for your Fall Wedding! I have had so much joy getting to know you and being part of all the details! You are one of the sweetest, kindest bride's I have ever had the joy of meeting and working with! It's going to be beautiful and I'm honored to be a part! Hugs!
