IRA + LUCY FEATURES
Brooke and Michael's Tamarack Wedding
Choosing Ira + Lucy was hands down the best decision we made for our wedding. We used their ‘Enhanced Day-Of Coordination’ package. We were on a tight budget and struggled with the idea of spending money on something that we couldn’t quite conceptualize, but felt very strongly about not wanting our friends and family to have to set up and take down our wedding. Once we met Victoria we realized why we needed her!! Always sweet and professional, she is an excellent problem solver and helped us with some major issues right off the bat. She would come over, check on us frequently, and took the time to get to know us. I literally want to frame the ‘concept boards’ she sent us - whenever the wedding seemed stressful I always would look at them because they reminded us of the important things we wanted, and looked like OUR wedding!

From Planner Victoria
This weekend was amazing, crazy, beautiful, rainy, perfect, sunny, gorgeous, windy...but most of all, it was full of love!
Where do I start with these two??? From my first meeting with Brooke and Mike about a year ago at a Starbucks in Nampa, my first impression was "wow...now that is love". Brooke wasn't expecting Mike to be at the meeting because of work conflicts, but he showed up about 5 minutes after we started. I could almost see her heart skip a beat ️ For the rest of the meeting they sat no more than an inch away from one another and were always checking in with one another on questions, ideas, and design.
From then on every meeting we had was filled with the same amount of care, love, and overall joy.
Fast forward to wedding day...
All of that love and joy I've been speaking of, well I know where they get it! I met parents, siblings, best friends, aunts, uncles, and so many more people that are a part of their lives and they all are just as kind as our lovely bride and groom.
Not only did we reset the reception from outside in the courtyard at beautiful Tamarack Resort, but then the family and friends help us move it all out again! Don't you just love Idaho weather?!?!
A huge thank you to all of the amazing vendors for your help and flexibility during the initial rain storm, then again during the wind storm, and yet again to move back outside when the weather finally decided to cooperate. We were all able to give the bride and groom the day of their dreams!

JUNE 18 2016 | IDAHO BOTANICAL GARDENS | OWYHEE PLAZA
When you have an iffy forecast, sometimes you have to make decisions on the fly... oh how bad did we want our ceremony in the gardens, but thunderstorms were moving through the area for a couple days and we had 30 mph winds headed our way... so, up went the tent and a quick change to our Rainy Day plan! It worked out well and we are glad we made it happen. As the Bride entered the tent, gusts of wind started up and while it wasn't rain... it was a lot of wind. Thank you Tates Tents and Events for getting this up for us!
The Reveal....
This was thee moment mother-of-the-bride, Kathy, and I had been dreaming of and working so hard for. Kathy was a dream of a mother to work with! Her creative talents were inspiring and bouncing ideas off of one-another was such a special experience. I'm so proud to have done this beside her... Kathy, I'll never forget this moment and I'm so excited we were able to keep the dance floor a HUGE surprise! Thank you Sound Wave for working with us and the many many revisions we did to get the dance floor and lighting just right!
Katie + Craig's Warm Springs Wedding
ST. JOHN CATHEDRAL | WARM SPRINGS | JUNE 25TH 2016
It's with bittersweet emotions that I share Katie and Craig's beautiful wedding day! It took almost a full year's work to plan, design and manage their wedding and I have come to care very much for Katie and Craig and their families. I consider myself extremely blessed by the clients and the friendships formed from the relationship we build and so sometimes when it's all over.... it can be a little sad. I know that the emails and texts and meetings will become memories, but they are cherished memories. Katie and Craig have thee biggest hearts and are two of the most kind individuals I have ever met. This was truly a labor of love! Thank you Katie and Craig, Patty and Derrick, Teresa and Jeff... thank you for sharing this intimate and cherished time in your family's lives with me and allowing me and my team the honor to create a remarkable and memorable wedding I know we will all cherish. Blessings! - H

The Design
Custom wedding design by Ira + lucy
Sammie shared with me a love for moody jewel tones and wanted to be sure it didn't feel too "girly" or too "country rustic". We focused on giving some boho vibes and playing up the jewel tones with a softer blush hue in the mix to add some depth to the palette. Pheasant feathers were a must for Sammie and Just So. Event Floral did a beautiful job incorporating them into the Bridal bouquet and Groom's boutonnière. I pulled away from a country vibe by adding a dramatic textured black and white print linen, from La Tavola Fine Linen, for the large head table. Adding vintage brown bottles, brass candlesticks with black tapers, gold geo shapes, air plants and ferns helped create a WOW focal point. Last minute, I decided to surprise Sammie with stunning calligraphy place cards from Sarah Pearl Studio. I requested them on black paper with torn edges and white text to add to that edgier vibe I wanted.
Authentic Mexican Equipale chairs made for the perfect Bride + Groom special seating and after dinner we pulled one out for the garter toss! I'm so excited about these new chairs now a part of our rental collection! The Honey Harvest Rattan Chargers pulled in the warm wood hues seen in the chairs, the brick backdrop and flooring.
Custom Projects
Sammie is going to school full time for nursing and truly, just didn't have the time or capacity to plan a wedding. Not to mention, just a few months before the wedding, her original venue canceled all their booked weddings, so we had to scramble to move the wedding to a new venue. At that point Sammie gave me full rein and told me to just take total creative and logistic control and pull her wedding together. It was pretty incredible to be able to have so much creative freedom and then get to surprise Sammie and Beau with all the little details we planned for them. The week of the wedding Sammie and her Mom wrote me in a panic that they forgot about a ring bearer pillow! So, I chatted with Kara, the florist and we put our minds together and I created the ring pillow and she made the flower girl baskets to match!
Farm House Tables
Our NEW Farm House Tables making their debut!!! They were incredible and made for the perfect special seating for the reserved family tables! Aren't they gorgeous pushed together for a dramatic tables cape and they pair beautifully with Tates new cross back chairs.
This was one of those "get you in the feels" weddings and couple. When Sammie and I first met in person there was an immediate connection, one of those God moments where you know you were brought into one another's lives for a bigger purpose. I won't got into the specifics, as it's personal for both Sammie and I, and we don't need to get too weepy eyed in our blog, but I'll forever feel connected to Sammie and giving her her dream wedding was a joy. I know all the vendors went above and beyond to love on this couple and I couldn't be more proud of our team and showing why we do what we do! To bless others! Love you so much Sammie! xoxo

I am so excited to start my week with Ira and Lucy featured on The Westchester Wedding Planner! A "transplant" to Idaho from the bigger city life has been an adjustment these past few years and quite the adventure! Boise has been so welcoming and embraced our family with a lot of love and support! It's been incredible building our vintage rental and wedding design and planning business from the ground up here, so much so that we are now expanding our design and coordination services into Seattle and Portland! It is awesome to be featured by New York's Westchester Wedding Planner this morning! I adore when Idaho Creatives are recognized and put on the "wedding designer map"! We have some incredibly awesome talent here! I'm so grateful for the awesome team of creatives that helped me pull this dream shoot together! xx
[pullquote width="600" float="left"]Happy Monday! This is a fantastic way to begin our week! Heidi of Ira & Lucy Event Design envisioned a dream photo shoot with the most delicate color palette, stunning tablescape with the accents of watercolor, and wedding attire producing one of the prettiest shoots we’ve had the pleasure of featuring here at TWWP. There are so many sweet details that brides can use as inspiration for their own lovely weddings. I hope you love this photo shoot as much as I do. [/pullquote]

Facing Fears
Apologies for being away for a bit. We have been quite busy with wedding season, as well as our family coping with the loss of our second child, Gabriel, just over a month ago. Early in our pregnancy, to our devastation we learned that Gabriel had major developmental anomalies. It has been the most painful and difficult time of our lives. I'm still trying to process it all, and am sure I will need a lifetime to do so. I carried our sweet boy for as long as my body would allow... just after the 21 week mark I became severely ill and had to be hospitalized. My body was shutting down... a few days later Gabriel was born...our angel. Right now I can't go into more details because it's too much for me and yet still so deeply close to our hearts that we aren't ready to share it all with the world. I have tried my best to keep our personal life, and in particular this difficult journey separate from our business part of life, but it is difficult at times to do that. I've always worn my heart on my sleeve, and I'll admit I was terrified that by sharing our struggles it would harm our business. I feared our clients or those considering us for services would run for the hills, demand their money back and that other businesses in our industry would avoid us as well. The complete opposite has happened and I am so incredibly touched. Instead, our clients old and brand new AND those in the industry have been nothing short of amazing. The patience, compassion, love, the tender thoughts and gestures... I am forever amazed at the human heart. Thank you... Thank you for allowing us to be honest, to be real and to share our difficult journey with you, even though I was so terrified to. We know many of you are wondering more about our story and some of you have been following us every step of the way. Should you want to know more about Gabriel's story you are welcome to read our [button url="http://thewighthouse.tumblr.com/"]FAMILY BLOG[/button] We have found some healing in sharing and will continue to tell it as we take life a day at a time. Thank you for still loving us, for still supporting us and for continuing to invite us to be part of your weddings and special events. Ira & Lucy is such a lifeline for us and we deeply thank you.

Alright, here's my attempt at wiping the tears away and sharing the projects we have had going on. We were pleased to produce the styled shoot featured on the cover and inside the first edition of McCall Wedding and Event Directory, McWED. Sherry, the Editor in Chief, invited us to be part of the creative process with bringing her dream alive. It was quite the exciting journey and it continues! We designed the logo, the branding, including the new website and were part of designing the magazine. It's a fabulous and much needed resource, be sure to check it out! You can [button url="http://issuu.com/mcwed/docs/summer2014"]view the digital issue here[/button]
This shoot was a challenge for me. I was pregnant with Gabriel, unsure if I would miscarry at any time and the onslaught of emotions and grief and dealing with the unpleasantries that pregnancy can offer. However, I was so excited to work with such a great team and it was good for me to have a project to focus on. I was first approached by Kindra, the videographer, at the wedding show in January. She and her dear friend, Ellie, the photographer, had hopes for putting together a cinematic styled shoot. After lots of talking about goals and vision I was thrilled that both Ellie and Kindra handed the reins over to me. After doing quite a few styled shoots, I have found how crucial it is to have a Creative Director/Producer. You get a bunch of "creatives" in the kitchen and boy can it be chaotic :) I know you creatives out there know exactly what I mean ;) We put together the rest of the team and was it a wonder to see it all come together. I will never forget the evening before the shoot. Lindsey (Behrens Artistry) and I went into crisis mode to come up with different bridesmaid dresses. We walked all over this town searching for the right gowns! Lindsey was making sure I was staying hydrated and eating protein bars. We were thrilled to find the gowns at H&M in the perfect Hemlock hue and the blue belts! We planned every single detail and are so pleased how it came together! Great job team! Below are some of my favorites from the shoot and don't miss the beautiful film production by Kindra.
